Originally from Colorado, Vicki Baker is now based in the Raleigh/Durham NC area at Equiventure with her partner Christopher Hitchcock. Using Rocking Horse 1 and 2 horse trials to start her season, Vicki is shooting for the Jersey Fresh CCI** in New Jersey.

Fine China, her first homebred mare, is an eight-year old Thoroughbred by Denny Emerson’s Epic Win, out of Arpeggio, who was Vicki’s first Pony Club horse. She also rode Destination Known in Preliminary, as well as two Novice entries.

Vicki met Markel Insurance agent Lisa Singer when she was living and working in Georgia, and through their friendship not only does Vicki insure her horses with Markel, but is sponsored by the company.

“It’s the greatest insurance company,” she said. “I’ve had a lot of dealings with them and they’ve been awesome.”

Enjoying her Florida experience, Vicki said, “It’s been a great event, by far the best Rocking Horse they’ve had. All the new sponsors and all the new fences are great. When they have an event for so long you kind of expect it to stay the same but they made good changes. It’s a good one to bring owners to because it’s very spectator-friendly.”
