O’Connor Book and DVD Autograph Session at Rolex

The USEA is pleased to announce that mother- and daughter-in-law duo, Sally and Karen O’Connor, will be available for autograph sessions at the USEA trade fair tent at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Karen, a three-time Olympian and nine-time USEA Lady Rider of the Year, will be on hand to sign the new Step By Step: Riding the 2006 USEF Dressage Tests for Eventing DVD, in which she appears riding two of the tests, as well as Life in the Galloping Lane, which she co-wrote with husband David.

Sally, an FEI “I” judge, will stop by to sign the new DVD (which she narrates) as well as both of her popular books, Practical Eventing and Common Sense Dressage.

Due to scheduling issues, days and time for the signings will be announced closer to the event. Check the USEA website as well as the USEA tent at the trade fair for updates. The USEA expects their trade fair tent to be located in the same spot as last year, near the Media Tent, across the “street” from the main arena.

The Step By Step DVD features top riders performing all of the new 2006 eventing dressage tests, Beginner Novice through Advanced—14 in total. Test author Sally O’Connor discusses what the judge is looking for in each of the tests, helping riders shave off penalty points and get a leg-up on the competition. Price $20.

Life in the Galloping Lane tells the story of how Karen and David got started in the world of eventing, from the backyard horses of their childhood, to the years of struggle as they worked their way to Olympic and World Championship medals. The book covers how they handled the joys and disappointments that are so much part of life with horses, as well as insights into their lives and training techniques, making it a must read for anyone interested in horse sport. Usual Price $29.95 – Rolex Special $22.

Practical Eventing offers complete advice on training and preparing for competition, from lower levels through preliminary. Includes many photos, shot especially for this book, along with illustrations. Price: $26 (includes Special 10% Rolex Discount)

With the combination of over 200 photos and illustrations and the author’s clear, instructive text Common Sense Dressage is one of the most useful books on dressage offered. Written especially for those riders who must work on their own most of the time, without the benefits of daily supervision of a personal trainer, this is a book to be turned to again and again as horse and rider progress. Price $24 (includes Special 10% Rolex discount).

The DVD and all of the books can be ordered on-line at the USEA Web Store (www.useventing.com) or purchased at Rolex. Supplies of Practical Eventing and Common Sense Dressage are limited.
