Equestrian Aid Foundation Establishes Fund for Injured Rolex Rider

Wellington, FL – The Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF) has established a dedicated fund for the benefit of Laine Ashker, an eventer who was injured on April 26 during the cross country phase at the Rolex International Kentucky Three-Day Event in Lexington, KY.  The EAF fund will assist Ashker and her family with medical and rehabilitation expenses.  To follow her progress, please visit www.laineashker.blogspot.com, which is updated daily.

“We’re fortunate to have the capabilities to establish this fund for Laine and her family during this difficult time,” said R. Scot Evans, president and co-founder of the Equestrian Aid Foundation. “She’s a talented rider and the outpouring of support we’ve received in donations since her accident shows the impression she’s had on the eventing world. Donations enable us to support Laine and others like her who require assistance during their time of need.”

The EAF, a membership-based nonprofit organization, uses donated funds to provide various essentials that may include medical needs, health insurance, food and housing, transportation, physical therapy and more.  Recipients of the EAF are conventionally anonymous. This is only the third dedicated fund established to date.  Previous accounts were set up for Ralph Hill in March 2007 and Darren Chiacchia in March 2008.

Established in 1996 to assist those with HIV/Aids, the EAF broadened its scope to provide support for anyone in the equestrian world suffering from life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing direct financial support for their medical or other basic needs.  It is a 501 (c) 3 organization.  To learn more about the EAF, memberships and donations, visit www.equestrianaidfoundation.org.
