Elizabeth Niemi, Grand Prix Dressage Rider/Trainer
A Few Favorite Horses
Elizabeth has enjoyed partnerships with many truly spectacular horses. She has developed many talented horses to ride and show through the years. While it is difficult to have a favorite, three horses stood out in her experience. Grendel, a Westphalian gelding, who was a big teddy bear, carried her through many 4th Level and Prix St. Georges tests. Florencio was brilliant at the third level and returned to the ring to win after a serious training rehabilitation. Luxus, a Dutch Warmblood gelding, was particularly consistent in the Small Tour.
Luxus – a Luxury Ride
One of her all time favorites was the handsome Dutch gelding, Luxus. Never known to be an easy horse, Luxus could give a show stopping performance when asked in just the right way.
Elizabeth unlocked his secrets early on and enjoyed great success with the headturning gelding. Elizabeth campaigned Luxus to earn several high scores and wins in the Prix St. Georges at King Oak Dressage Days. He went on to do equally well in the Prix St. Georges at the East Coast Riders Cup at NEDA Centerline Events at Ox Ridge.
Relevant the Raving Red Head
Top placing young horse, Relevant, aced her Training Level, Test 4 with a 74% score at Windy Hollow Dressage. Niemi followed up with a score of 73% riding Don Astaire at Third Level, Test 3 during the NEDA Dressage Show.
The Fabulous Florencio
Elizabeth Niemi is currently campaigning and competing Florencio, a 7-year old Dutch gelding warmblood, owned by Robert and Christina Baker of Greenwich, Connecticut.
Russo – Mr. Black Gold
Russo is a black Oldenburg gelding with four flashing white socks and a white blaze owned by Christina Baker.
He has been bringing home all the blue ribbons with high scores of 72.% and 73.% in Training Level in Florida. These were Russo's first dressage shows. He has already done what it takes to be a top contender for his amateur owner rider.
Me and Wholio – Down by the Schoolyard
Wholio, the Hanoverian gelding owned by Vivan Russo-Picheny of New York, NY is being pointed for Dressage at Devon. Wholio posted Grand Prix scores of 64.7% and 64.9% in his last two shows in Wellington.
He has a good start on the road to Devon at summer's end.
New Kids on the Block
Kosmos
The big grey Grand Prix prospect was a rare find by Elizabeth in Germany. He was recently purchased by her client, Dawn Bernardo.
Sting
A beautiful KWPN gelding with lots of chrome Elizabeth just purchased for herself in Holland.
